Don’t step into the world before going through the process of reflection
Before we involve ourselves in life’s demands, we need an honest conversation with ourselves — asking what we truly want for our lives and what our purpose is in this world.
It’s a moment of full awareness, a moment of truth. Through reflection, we become conscious of our values, principles, aspirations, fears, and frustrations.
In reality, this is how we build the foundation of our lives, making our life project firm and stable. Reflection always calls us to begin with the essence — the internal, and only then the external.
Through it, we develop self-knowledge and begin shaping, consciously, our values, principles, identity, and life goals. When we do this, we strengthen our project and gain clarity about what we truly desire.
Take time to reflect deeply on your life and question intensely what you really want.
Many times we are so busy that we end up living someone else’s life plan — and forget to live our own.
If you don’t take time to consciously design your life project, you will inevitably end up fitting into the plans of others.
I believe the best choice is to put everything aside for a moment, have a sincere conversation with yourself, and begin, consciously, to build your life project.
How to build a solid life project?
• Start by defining your purpose. It doesn’t need to be extraordinary; you simply need a cause that inspires you to transform your reality. A firm purpose helps you resist the adversities that appear along the way. It becomes your shield in moments of doubt, fear, and frustration. When you fall, it reminds you why you chose this path.
• Define your life goals. It is hard to endure adversity when we don’t know what we truly want.
• Create a new identity. What kind of person do you need to become to achieve what you’re aiming for?
• Establish your values and principles.
• Optimize your environment. Start by writing down what your ideal environment would look like and the people who would be part of it. Who do you want to be connected to? Remember: we are a product of our environment. I truly believe the saying: we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. Choose your environment wisely.
Final words
From the bottom of my heart, my advice is that you take time to reflect deeply on the direction of your life and, through this reflection, solidify your life project.
Live as the exception; don’t live like the majority — most people dive into life’s demands without even knowing which direction they should follow.
To understand this more deeply, think of the following example:
Imagine a ship sailing on the ocean without coordinates for its destination. It drifts aimlessly and eventually finds itself stopped in the middle of the sea, confused for having no direction.
How will the captain guide the ship without the proper coordinates? Most likely, that ship will reach nowhere, because it never defined its route or the purpose of its journey before departing.
The same happens to a person who does not consciously plan their life path or understand the reason behind the destination they want to reach. Such a person drifts through life without direction, consumed by frustration and disappointment. Any opportunity seems attractive, and they jump from one thing to another. Have you ever seen someone live this way? Most people do.
Live consciously, knowing that goals matter: they give direction and meaning to our lives.
Our goals act like a compass — a compass that points to the steps we need to take to reach our destination.
Start consciously defining your path.
Live guided by your life plan, and use that plan to evaluate what has slowed you down and how you can improve to reach your destination.
Make this decision today. You deserve the best — and the best in life can only be enjoyed when you have a well-designed plan for your own journey.
Be strong and steady. Walk toward your purpose.
